Morong is now a first class municipality. The town upgraded from a third-class municipality to first-class municipality due to significant increase in its annual income.

The achievement is a testament to the effective leadership of Mayor Cynthia G. Linao-Estanislao and Vice Mayor Leila G. Linao-Munoz with the support of Sangguniang Bayan members. Mayor Estanislao and Vice Mayor Munoz expressed their joy and pride over the accomplishment.
